A fatalistic acceptance colors the deceptively upbeat “Live On”, and irony joins the steel guitar on “We Forgot About Peace and Love”. “Almost at Home” gives us a moment of content, and songs like “Front Door Jamb” and “Beneath the Apple Tree” demonstrate that Andy’s guitar work rivals his way with words. Recorded at the farm that has been in his family for 120 years, River Light is music at its purest. No fancy studio.
